Step by Step Guide
Open your Winlink Express program.
Start a new message by clicking on the paper icon
link.
A new window will appear with a blank message.
Click on “Select Templates”.
Click on “Standard Templates”.
Click on “Weather forms”.
Double click on “Local Weather Report” or severe
weather report if needed.
Then the Current Local Weather report form will pop
up.
When you open the weather form it will automatically
populate your call sign, the Lat & Long, and grid square, provided that the
information is in your Winlink program. If this does not automatically populate
you may manually put this information in.
Next be sure to click the Imperial button so that
information is given in °F, inches, and MPH. This will ensure that we are all
reporting the weather the same way.
Put in the observer’s name, and put in your city,
state, and county.
Feel free to add any notes that may further explain
your weather condition.
When complete click “Submit”
A pop-up window will appear, click OK
The information from the form will automatically
populate your message
Put in the net control’s call sign KC7VBT in the
“To” line
On the “Cc” line use your everyday email address.
Net control will respond to all emails listed, this way you may see the net
response sooner.
When finished with the message, click “Posts to
Outbox”, this will queue up your message for the next time you open a session
Click on the drop-down box next to the open session.
Choose your method for sending this message.
There are too many variables to guide you through
how to set up your equipment and what method to use when sending a message. This
is an area we all need to get better at.
Once you have set up your sending
method, click on “Open Session” and this will begin the process of sending your
message.
